If you need help deciding whether to make that leap of faith, then you can try installing Mac OS X Snow Leopard on Virtualbox, instead. Virtualbox is a virtualization suite that works for Windows- installing Mac OS X on a virtual machine in Windows before doing it on your actual computer is great practice, and it gives you a chance to.

  1. Once completed, your Mac OS X Snow Leopard VM should be ready for use. I suggest not installing the Oracle VM VirtualBox additions since they fail during the install on my version and there is an entire forum dedicated to hackery to get these to work.
  2. Note: This is a Retail installation guide, hence little more tricky. If you don’t mind an osx86 distro inside virtualbox and want ease of installation, tryout Install Mac OS X Hackintosh in VirtualBox Snow Leopard instead. Before you begin, make sure you have enough CPU.

I need to use Snow Leopard 10.6 as a developer environment but am stuck on 1024x768 which makes work much harder than it should be. I cannot install Multibeast as I am on Ivy Bridge and doing so stops it from booting. As Ivy Bridge is not supported by 10.6 I'm lucky to have it running at all. To get it to boot I use iboot-Ivy-Bridge which I'm happy with. Normally you would install Multibeast and then change the resolution from changing the resolution by editing the org.Chameleon.boot.plis in the Extra folder. With no Multibeast I have no Extra folder. My only idea is to extract the iboot-Ivy-Bridge, edit the org.Chameleon.boot.plis in there and then create a bootable disk but have no idea if that would work.

Has anyone got this working and can share how to do it, knows if my idea would work or perhaps there is a Multibeast or equivalent for 10.6 and Ivy Bridge out there?
Howdy!
I would like to employ the 'Repeat After Me' application (provided on the 'Additional Tools for Xcode 9' disk image, in the Utilities folder). Since it is a 32-bit Intel application, it doesn't run under Big Sur 11.1. I have a Snow Leopard 10.6.3 retail disc, and have captured an ISO with dd. I downloaded VirtualBox (version 6.1.16 r140961), and have added a new VM, called 'Snow Leopard VM.' I then configured the following:
    General: Advanced: Shared Clipboard: Bidirectional
General: Advanced: Shared Clipboard: Drag'n'Drop: Bidirectional
System: Motherboard: Boot Order: Unchecked Floppy
Display: Screen: Video Memory: 128 MB
Storage: Storage Devices: Controller: SATA: Optical Drive: SATA Port 1: 'Snow Leopard.iso'
Then I closed VirtualBox and went to Terminal, typing the following commands:
VBoxManage modifyvm 'Snow Leopard VM' --cpus 1
VBoxManage modifyvm 'Snow Leopard VM' --vram 128
VBoxManage modifyvm 'Snow Leopard VM' --cpu-profile 'Intel Core i7-5600U'
Yet it stops at the 'UEFI Interactive Shell v2.2' boot menu.
